The Graduate

1.    The Graduate, directed by Mike Nichols, is one of only twelve people to have won all the major American entertainment awards. Mike became the biggest director after this movie. Dustin Hoffman was nominated for Best Actor, which was his first starring role.  The graduate written by Buck Henry and Calder Willingham, grossed 40 million at the Box Office.  Robert Surtees served as the cinematographer. The cinematography was often days of long takes, stylized lighting and framing.

3.    Filmcentric.com review of the graduate discusses how this classic deserves iconic statues and how the movie is gently subversive, wistful not explicitly political but still very much part of the countercultural 60s.

4.    The Graduate is my favorite just because I can relate and love the youth fullness of it. I think Dustin Hoffman did an excellent job depicting this character.  I thought the POV shots were interesting.  By the time the class progressed to this film I could really see how far and drastic the art of film had progressed on all levels as far as content cinematography composition etc.  I think this movie is a great example of how well stylize framing can come together making the movie even more visually interesting.
