1. The gold Rush is an impressive silent –era movie based on the tragedies of the great Alaskian Gold Rush. The film told the story of hardship, struggle and tragedy in a comedic way. Chaplin wanted to develop a style or a character that I believe really set him apart from all the others. He would use this character repeatedly. He came up with the Tramp character, representing the little fellow or the underdog that yearns for acceptability, love, money and respect. The gold rush depicted Controversial Themes, Drug addiction, Alcoholism, Poverty, Hunger, Crime, and Religious hypocrisy.

3. This article reviews an in depth summary of the movie. It also goes into saying how much of a perfectionist Charlie Chaplin was. It talks about how he would strive for the perfect end result. The review also discusses how he made the gold Rush at the enormous cost over 900,000 and filmed under often physically brutal, harsh conditions in the Nevada town of Truckee.
4. I was most impressed with Chaplin’s ability to write, direct and star in this film. I love how Chaplin uses comedy to make a point in almost all of his films. I thought the Cinematic style was interesting. Choosing to use medium shots through out the whole movie was unusual to see because when you take film classes I was told to get as many shot variations as possible so the idea of one shot consistently used but still having the ability to keep my interest throughout was very interesting.
